The icon in the bottom right of the system indicates the mode currently enabled.

When things are running as expected (as far as we know!), the icon will look like this:

When the system is in Development Mode is will look like this:

Development mode means we are aware of an issue and working on the system in some way - so you may run into a line of text or a error here or there, although everyday use of the system shouldn't be affected.
